I joined the Marine sector at Tony Gee in May 2022 as a civil engineering degree apprentice following a gap year after finishing my A-Levels. Some of my everyday roles typically include creating 3D visualisations for projects, preparing reports and engineering calculations, and using software to model structural analysis and hydraulics. What drew me to Tony Gee was the company’s involvement in diverse projects along with its commitment to early career development through schemes like Student and Apprentice Weeks.
As an apprentice I am fortunate to be surrounded by experienced engineers who always provide support whether that is with project or university work. One of the benefits of working within Marine is that I am regularly exposed to new projects and constantly have the opportunity to learn new skills from my colleagues. No matter how busy they are or what grade they are at, everyone always finds the time to help me understand anything I am unsure on which is highly valuable in ensuring my development as an engineer.
If you are applying for a role at Tony Gee then you can expect to be challenged on an array of technically different projects across all sectors. Be prepared to learn a lot and equally ask a lot of questions as Tony Gee’s collaborative approach is applied to all project work which creates a supportive team environment to learn within.
