Get an incredible summer experience or immerse yourself in our world for a year. It’s not just graduates who get to experience the extraordinary things we do at Babcock. These 10 to 12-week internships over the summer holiday give you the opportunity to try out a discipline and see if it’s something you want to do once you graduate.

Lucy's internship at Babcock

Lucy Peck, Industrial Engineering Intern, describes the experiences and skills she has gained at Babcock so far. To watch the full Gradcracker/Babcock webinar click here.

What you’ll be doing

Expect to work on every kind of project across our organisation – from design to construction, in-service support and maintenance and capability enhancement projects. Whatever the task at hand, risks need to be identified and managed, stakeholder requirements satisfied, and the whole assignment planned and delivered on time and to budget. Along the way, you’ll develop strong relationships with colleagues in engineering, commercial, financial and procurement functions. That’s because watching our finances is as important as watching the clock when delivering a project. With that professional network behind you, you’ll have everything you need to tackle anything that comes your way.

What you’ll get out of it

During the summer placement, you’ll get the opportunity to work in a department relevant to your degree subject so you can start putting theory into practice. You can expect to work on current projects where you’ll have real input and learn how to work safely in a workplace environment.

What you’ll need

  • To be in Year 3 (or above) in your studies of a relevant degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • To be able to satisfy the MoD’s security requirements (you may need to complete a medical assessment)

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.

(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)
