Graduate Software Developer

Software, Web Development, Computer Science, Maths, Physics.

A development role for Maths, Physics and Engineering graduates.

You don't need to be a software developer yet. If you've just finished a Maths, Physics or Engineering degree and enjoy breaking a hard problem into logical steps, we'll teach you the rest.

Bramble CFD builds the software that runs Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations: the web tools engineers use, the APIs behind them, and the automated workflows that push jobs through high-performance computing clusters. You'll join a core development team of eight developers, engineers and IT specialists, small enough that what you build goes into use quickly.

We're growing the team, and we'd like you to be part of it.

What you'll do

In a team this size the work is varied. Over your first year you'll work across the whole stack, with the rest of the team alongside you:

  • Build new frontend features in Angular, so engineers can set up, run and inspect simulations more easily
  • Create new APIs that connect the user interface to the solvers and the cluster
  • Implement new CFD workflows, turning an aerodynamicist's process into something automated and repeatable
  • Write test and user documentation, so what you build can be trusted and maintained
  • Report progress regularly to your team leader, and take part in planning the work

Your work will be used by teams from the pinnacles of motorsport and cycling as well internationally recognisable automotive brands.

What we offer

Training. We'll train you fully in our core stack, Angular and Python, and more broadly in Linux, high-performance computing (HPC) and CFD as the work demands. You'll learn alongside experienced developers from day one.

Pay and benefits

  • Salary
    £27,000, depending on experience
  • Annual leave
    25 days plus Bank Holidays
  • Pension
    Company pension scheme

Where you'll work:

We're based at the Catesby Tunnel test facility in the Northamptonshire countryside, commutable from Warwick, Leamington Spa, Banbury and Daventry. This is a full-time, on-site role; we don't offer hybrid or remote working.

Who we're looking for

Above all, we value logical thought, motivation and an eagerness to learn. We're not expecting development experience, rather the aptitude and willingness to become a developer. Full training is provided.

You must have:

  • At least a 2.1 degree (or equivalent) in Maths, Physics or Engineering
  • An A grade or higher in A-level Maths
  • The right to work in the UK

It would be a bonus if you also have any of:

  • Some software development, especially with Angular or Python, whether from a module, a project or a hobby
  • Experience or awareness of Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Use of version control, particularly git
  • Time spent working in a Linux environment

If you tick the three boxes above and none of the bonus ones, please still apply. The second list is what we'll train you in, not what we expect on day one. We'd rather hear from you today.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
