The Electrical Engineering Team forms one of the Teams that form the Engineering Section within Yorkshire Water’s Asset Delivery Business Unit. The Electrical Engineering Team delivers a myriad of projects and initiatives ranging from the delivery of standards and policy, renewable energy initiatives, to the delivery of large scale High Voltage and Low Voltage Inspection Programmes & infrastructure upgrades.

Where you fit in:

As an Electrical Engineer you will:   

  • Connect with our Early in Careers team who will support you through your Undergraduate placement with us.
  • Work under the guidance of the Principal Electrical Engineer, developing a skillset that ties underpinning theoretical knowledge gained at university with the management of complex engineering systems in a regulated environment.
  • Gain an understanding of how the team and wider engineering function are able to support the delivery of the applicable legislation, standards, specifications.
  • Have the opportunity for real-world, hands on experience and exposure to both high and low voltage operations and maintenance work and projects.
  • Work closely with Solution Development Engineers to help deliver projects delivering our CEO’s requirement of 100% compliance, 100% of the time.

Location: Western house, Bradford (moving to Leeds Valley Park between September and December of 2026) with Hybrid working when required at site visits across the Yorkshire Water asset base throughout the Yorkshire Region. 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Currently midway through a BEng in Electrical & Electronic or equivalent, having successfully completed years 1 and 2.
  • An interest in high voltage and low voltage operations and maintenance projects, from an engineering or project development perspective.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Experience of projects and partnership working
  • The ability to demonstrate the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours   

You will also benefit from having:

  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
  • Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors 
  • Completion of BEng course units with a focus on power & industrial systems.
