Applied Intelligence: As an Electronic Engineer (Graduate Engineer) within Applied Intelligence, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects from the outset. Our electronic engineers design and develop analogue and digital electronics, VHDL and embedded/low level software for a wide range of electronic systems. You could tackle a number of different development tasks in different disciplines, depending on your background and aspirations. We expect you to take responsibility for your work, but you will work under guidance from our expert engineers. Day to day, you could implement complex signal-processing algorithms in VHDL, debug the RF chain on a software radio, develop embedded software to run on low power microcontrollers or develop ruggedised devices for challenging environments. Land (UK): From combat to peacekeeping roles our track record is second to none when it comes to delivering high-profile programmes. Today we cover everything from world-class battle tanks to new engineer vehicles that provide vital support to frontline troops. We also provide advanced training systems to support military vehicles and systems. Preferred degrees include; Electrical Electronic Engineering or related.
Electronic Systems: As a Hardware Engineer at Rochester you will work as part of a multi-discipline team on complex high reliability electronic systems. Our leading-edge capabilities in micro-electronics, image processing and high integrity systems are second to none, making us a world leader in defence avionics. Specific roles of a Hardware Engineer include decision making regarding electronic product content, optimising hardware and software design concepts and synthesising design from a range of components and advanced technology options. There are other aspects to these roles as well, from developing sophisticated design processes through to developing and testing complex and intelligent products. Preferred degrees include; Electronics, Electronics in combination with Electrical, Computing, Physics. We are particularly interested in degrees containing aspects of Analogue Design, Digital Design, Fields and Waves, Digital Communication, Processing and Applications, Engineering Maths, Computing or VHDL/Verlilog.
Maritime Services: As an Electrical and Electronic Engineer within Maritime services you'll be responsible for a vast range of electronic products and services throughout their entire life cycle, from inception through to disposal. One project may have you working with the latest technology available - creating inspired designs to be sure such innovation is used to its full potential, another may have you working on board ship to ensure existing technology is maintained correctly to guarantee its availability when urgent action is required. Alternatively you may undertake a hands-on role as a Micro Electronics Engineer, working within Product and Training Services at Chelmsford. You will have the opportunity to design and develop activities for a wide variety of radar and torpedo systems. This is in respect of both new products, and in support of existing systems in service. Join us and you will be a part of the team that delivers end to end maritime services. Preferred degrees include; Mechanical, Electrical/ Electronic, Systems or any numerate degree.
Naval Ships: Join us and you’ll have the opportunity to work for a business which is involved with some of the largest engineering projects in the UK. We have teams working on the Royal Navy’s two new Aircraft Carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, which will be the backbone of the UK fleet for decades to come. We have also recently delivered the advanced Type 45 destroyers and our work is already underway on the Type 26 Global Combat Ship. Preferred degrees include; Electrical Engineering, Combat systems with a bias towards Electrical Power, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, Iinformation Management, Network Architecture, Electrical Process Control.
Submarines: Working with our team you'll join a group of experts who have been responsible for building every submarine currently in service with the Royal Navy. Your specialist knowledge will come to the fore when it comes to providing professional electrical design capability, supporting test and trials analysis to ensure the equipment meets the original design intent and being actively involved in concept design. Preferred degrees include; Electrical/ Electronic based Engineering or related.
Graduate Development Framework (GDF): Available in Land (UK) - Telford, Submarines - Barrow-in-Furness, Electronic Systems - Rochester, Maritime Services - Portsmouth Naval Base/ Broad Oak/ Cowes and Naval Ships - Glasgow, this two year scheme develops people who are passionate about and show great potential in their chosen field. Through a mix of study and on-the-job training in multiple placements, you’ll steadily acquire the skills and experience needed to become an Electrical & Electronic Engineer or a Micro Electronics Engineer, with a starting salary of £28,000. While on the scheme you’ll also receive regular salary and performance reviews and be supported to work towards chartered engineer status with a relevant institution.
Applied Intelligence Graduates: From day one, you’ll get your own personal career manager/mentor, who will offer guidance and support throughout your career. For your first 18 months, you will work through our Graduate Development Programme, which will help develop you towards a more specialised career path. Every Graduate will complete the Graduate Development Programme. The programme consists of a set of 5 training modules that you will work through over your first 18 months into the business.
Throughout your time as a Graduate, there will be plenty of opportunities for structured development, a range of projects to get involved in, and the opportunity to attend regular events. Unlike some graduate schemes we don’t have rigid role rotations. Though you are likely to get involved in several different projects to ensure your skills are developed and enhanced during your time as a Graduate. Starting salary of £28,000.
