We provide assurance to the entire energy value chain through our advisory, monitoring, verification, and certification services. As the world's leading resource of independent energy experts and technical advisors, we help industries and governments to navigate the many, complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

We are committed to realising the goals of the Paris Agreement and support all stakeholders, to transition faster to a deeply decarbonised energy system.

About the role:

Do you enjoy solving real-life problems and learning from industry leading experts? Do you want to work on projects that touch all aspects of the offshore industry?

As an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Graduate in our Offshore Infrastructure department, you will join a growing team of big thinkers who love finding innovative solutions to our energy industry’s most challenging problems.

Based in our London office, you’ll be supported and provided with a development plan for your professional growth from day one. You will be collaborating with forward-thinking customers and technical experts across our business, helping to deliver career and industry-defining projects to Safeguarding Life, Property and Environment.

Offshore Infrastructure is a department of approximately 170 people dedicated to assurance services across varied sectors. Our department is organised into two sections: the Project Assurance section, which provides the technical advisory support and verification from the new building design phase up to offshore commissioning, and the Asset Assurance section, which focuses on providing verification services for in-service operations.

Our complete cycle of services make us a key contributor to the management of the energy trilemma (energy reliability, affordability, and sustainability) and energy transition. Our markets cover a broad range of energy sectors including upstream Oil & Gas, offshore Renewable Energy and any applications serving the energy industry.

As an E&I Graduate Engineer, the main focus of your competency development will revolve around the following E&I subjects, though this list is not exhaustive:

  • Power Supply (Emergency and Uninterruptible Power Supply)
  • Instrumentation and Control Systems
  • Communication Systems
  • Installation of Explosion-Proof Equipment and Ignition Prevention
  • Hazardous Area Classification
  • Fire and Gas Detection
  • Functional Safety

Our structured Graduate Programme, therefore, provides a fantastic start to your career with us and supports your journey to become an expert in your chosen field.

Upon joining, you’ll receive a buddy to help you settle in, a mentor to enhance your technical knowledge, as well as ongoing on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues as you develop your technical, project management and customer interaction skills, as you work towards professional status or chartership. There are also opportunities for site surveillance trips at construction yards and offshore.

During your first two years you will be developing real skills and knowledge within our Department, allowing you to spend time with different technical experts across multiple disciplines, building your network and gaining a broader understanding of both “what we do” and “what you enjoy doing”.

Additionally, you will be given a graduate development path that includes virtual and in‑person courses where you will have the opportunity to meet other graduates across the country, to improve soft skills such as communication, as well as enhancing your digital skills, chartership knowledge, and focusing your career goals.

We encourage these opportunities for personal growth in DNV, through our 70-20-10 philosophy (70% learning on the job, 20% coaching & 10% training) to support your ongoing career development.

What will you bring?

As a Graduate, we don’t expect any prior experience of what we do or the Energy Industry. We do however hope that you share our interest for these and demonstrate your desire to develop yourself within this exciting area. We therefore try to keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:

  • Minimum 2:2 Degree in an Electrical, or Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering discipline.
  • Available to join the programme by September 2024 at the latest
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrating the ability to produce technical reports detailing clear outcomes of the analysis for customers
  • Pro-active willingness to learn new skills displaying a willingness to “get stuck in” and undertake work outside ‘comfort zone’ demonstrating appropriate balance between asking for help and using own initiative / think through the problem
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, confident in building professional relationships and demonstrates first class written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan and prioritise own time and activities, to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives
  • High adaptability to work with multi-disciplinary team to achieve high quality business deliverables
  • Additional interest and/or skills in Project Management, Digital Innovation or Cyber Security and how we can apply these to enhance our services, whilst not essential may be of value to our team.

If you possess the curiosity and initiative to become an expert in your chosen field and potentially one of our future leaders, then our graduate roles could be for you.
