Filton Plant Performance Improvement Placement (12 months)

An exciting internship has become available within the Business Operations, Performance Improvement team at Airbus Filton. Our department is a close-knit team dedicated to providing excellent support to the Filton Plant, which includes the A400M Wing, the A350 Equipped Gear Beam, and the Wing Technology Development Centre. Our purpose is to drive continuous business improvement.

As a Business Operations Intern, you will be analysing the performance of the plant and supporting new, innovative projects to drive performance, efficiencies and eliminating waste. You will drive improvements in key areas such as Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Environmental impact. 

What you will be doing:

As a Business Operations Performance Improvement Intern you will develop essential skills in data analysis and a continuous improvement mindset. You will build a network of key stakeholders in the business across a variety of operational areas and support functions.

• Performance Dashboard Creation: Developing and maintaining dashboards using data analytics to track key operational metrics;
• Business Reporting Support: Assisting the team with regular business reporting requirements and data analysis;
• Improvement Project Management: Leading or supporting ad-hoc improvement projects within the plant environment;
• Daily Operational Support: Working directly with the Business Improvement Manager to support daily activities and departmental efficiency;
• Efficiency & Analytics: Analysing data to create business cases regarding AHPS (Attendance Hours Per Ship) reduction, focusing on the trade-off between investments and potential savings;
• Digital toolset Deployment: Assisting with the development and rollout of digital tools on the shop floor to improve data reporting, capture Health & Safety risks, and align with Airbus Operating System (AOS) standards;
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engaging with teams across Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance to drive industrial improvements.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

As the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate the following:

• Studying towards a degree in Business, Engineering, a Technical field, or equivalent;
• The ability to communicate effectively;

• An interest in coding and digital tools;
• A strong interest in self-development;
• The desire to work in an open and trusting environment.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
