Project Management Placement (12.5 months)

Are you ready to help coordinate the manufacture and delivery of the wings that power the global aviation industry?

Based at our advanced Broughton manufacturing facility, you will join the Business Support and Health & Safety (H&S) Team for the flagship Airbus A350 wing family. This placement isn't about watching from the sidelines: it’s an active, hands-on project management role. You will bridge the gap between daily operations and long-term strategic evolution, managing initiatives that directly enable production, drive safety culture, and optimise our industrial systems to meet critical ramp-up targets.

We don't expect you to be an aerospace expert on day one. Instead, we provide a structured, tailored development program designed to jumpstart your career in project management, business and aviation operations.

What you will be doing:

Working directly alongside our H&S and Business Support leaders, you will take ownership of real-world deliverables, including:

• Project Coordination & Delivery: Leading continuous improvement initiatives from concept to execution, tracking cost-saving milestones, and managing project timelines across the assembly line;
• Risk & Safety Management: Treating safety as a core project constraint by conducting risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and implementing corrective action plans to champion our zero-accident culture;
• Lean & Process Optimisation: Mapping workflows and applying lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, streamline the wing manufacturing process, and improve operational efficiency;
• Stakeholder Engagement: Acting as a key interface between shop-floor operators, engineering teams, and senior management to influence positive safety behaviors and drive project buy-in.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

This role will involve working in areas which require stakeholder, brand and reputation management and involvement with internal and external audiences.

To be eligible, you must be a current undergraduate student returning to your studies after the 12-month placement. We are looking for candidates who bring:

• Academic Foundation: Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Management, Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline;
• Mindset: A foundational interest in Lean manufacturing, aviation, and problem-solving;
• Technical & Digital Literacy: Proficiency with digital collaboration and project tools (Google Workspace/G-Suite experience);
• Communication: Exceptional communication and listening skills, with the confidence to build relationships, facilitate meetings, and influence stakeholders at various levels of the business;
• A Proactive Drive: A collaborative teammate who is eager to learn, comfortable adapting to changing priorities, and ready to take ownership of project outcomes.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
