I joined the NNL Graduate Scheme in September 2022 after graduating with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester. I joined NNL because I have always had an interest in nuclear science and how it can benefit society, whether it be through providing clean energy to help achieve Net Zero, or through other uses like medical applications.
Since starting in my current role as a Mechanical Design Engineer, I have mainly been involved with a project aimed at helping make the disposal of nuclear waste safer and more effective. There are also many other opportunities to get involved such as outreach programmes or the Young Generation Network at the Nuclear Institute.
Another great thing about working at NNL is having the ability to work flexibly, because it makes maintaining a work-life balance much easier.
