The Opportunity

The Energy, Water & Resources Mid-West HV Networks team is a specialist electrical engineering team focused on the planning, analysis, design and delivery of high-voltage electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. We combine expertise in power system studies, HVDC technology and electrical design to support clients through the energy transition, delivering projects that connect renewable generation, enable network reinforcement, integrate large energy users and improve power system resilience. As a centre of excellence within Arup, we provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary design, owner's engineer and advisory commissions across the UKIMEA region and internationally.

The team typically:

  • Perform detailed assessments of existing electrical networks and new generation and demand connections to ensure system integrity and reliability.
  • Apply specialist electrical engineering skills to infrastructure projects globally across energy, power, water, industrial, and process sectors.
  • Support development and delivery of electricity network innovation for novel technical, operational and digital concepts, collaborating with colleagues and clients across sectors and services  
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams and experts to deliver professional services to clients.
  • Support the energy transition by ensuring electricity networks are designed and operate safely and effectively.

Is this role right for you?

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:   

  • A bachelor's degree in relevant academic discipline, such as Electrical Engineering.
  • Skills and experience interested in electrical engineering fundamentals, electrical design, power system analysis.
  • Technical skills such as experience of coding languages, CAD or BIM, practical experience on electrical design projects.

To be considered for a graduate opportunity, your application must include a copy of your academic transcript and meet the following criteria:

  • Full working rights in the country of application
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
