Technology Graduate Scheme

I joined Vodafone in 2014 on the Technology Graduate scheme, and ever since I have been given fantastic opportunities to develop and progress, experienced multiple areas of the business, and enjoyed every minute.

Whilst on the graduate scheme, I was lucky enough to rotate round four different areas of the business. I started my journey in a retail store in Newcastle Upon Tyne, which allowed me to experience the front line and meet thousands of our customers over the two months I was there, and hear first-hand how they found our products and services.

I then moved down to Newbury to live near the HQ and start my next rotation in Problem Management. Here, I reviewed large customer-impacting incidents, identified their root causes and worked with teams across Technology to eradicate issues and mitigate repeat incidents. Following this role, I moved into a Service Transition role which enabled me to work on multiple large scale transformation programmes across Vodafone as well as local initiatives to improve culture for our teams. My final rotation was working on the MoJ (Ministry of Justice) project working with 3rd parties to have the Prisons, Courts and detention centres surveyed ready for a large network transformation that was going to take place. In just under 2 years, my network, skills and experiences had grown exponentially. I was supported throughout by fantastic managers and mentors helping me to achieve my goals and overcome any blockers in my way.

I was then approached for a full time position in the Fixed Service Transition team, focusing on customers' on-boarding for new and existing Contact Centre Customers. The team ensures that operational requirements are met and all our bases are covered for new customers going live. To be successful in this role it meant dealing with lots of teams across Vodafone UK and Group, and opened my eyes to the scale of large projects and programmes.

Most recently, I have taken up the role of a Business Manager to the Head of Operations. When I was approached for the opportunity, I simply couldn’t refuse. This role is very fast-paced, working closely with the Head of Operations and the leadership team, enabling them to operate efficiently together. It has given me a fantastic opportunity to understand how our Network is operated and what it takes to run a large scale function. Working closely with senior managers has allowed me to learn from their experience and draw on their knowledge. No two days are ever the same and I learn something new every day!

Vodafone is such a great place to learn and develop and that is hugely down to the people here. In just three years I have managed to experience several roles across the business and build a great network of connections across the business. Everyone who has supported me along my journey so far has genuinely wanted to help me achieve my next step. I have no doubt that I will be able to take the next step in my career at Vodafone as soon as I’m ready.
