"Through our initial training programme, the continued learning and through the women’s network here, I’ve been able to participate in seminars where we get to practice presenting."
As a Relationship Support Manager, I work daily with the Relationship Directors, speaking to clients every day to help them with their banking queries. I specialise in insurance, which I find really interesting – particularly the Lloyds of London market. It’s really unique and unusual, and I’ve enjoyed learning how all of that works.
Through our initial training programme, the continued learning and through the women’s network here, I’ve been able to participate in seminars where we get to practice presenting. It’s really good fun and has definitely increased my confidence presenting in front of people.
At the moment I’m working on my credit skills development, which is an internal piece of Barclays training. The certificate has eighteen modules and tests, teaching you all the really important stuff if you want to become a corporate banker. My manager is always encouraging me to go on the internal Barclays training system, where there is anything you could possibly want to develop, from presentation skills to seminars.
Barclays definitely has a big focus on innovation. I’m lucky enough to be working with innovation champions, who are involved with the Barclays Accelerator – which is a really cool, amazing programme that encourages FinTech firms and start-ups. We introduce our clients to them and we see how the technology that these start-ups are coming up with can be implemented. The great thing is that Barclays support the start-ups and the amazing technology they’re coming up with. So we’re able to offer it to our clients and deepen the relationships we have with them.
