About Us

Hoare Lea is an award-winning engineering consultancy with a creative team of engineers, designers and technical specialists. We provide innovative solutions to complex engineering and design challenges for buildings.

Irrespective of the scale or complexity of a project, we provide a full range of MEP, environmental and sustainability services, bringing buildings to life and ensuring that they perform in operation as well as they look.

Bring buildings to life. Design better places for people.

We provide innovative solutions to complex engineering and design challenges for buildings.

Are you an aspiring fire engineer looking to make a difference to the world around you? Do you want the chance to grow, learn, and be supported by industry leaders? This ever-changing world will be shaped by the buildings put into it; and we know it’s often the newest minds who have the brightest ideas.

The Role

As a graduate fire engineer, your day-to-day tasks will vary, as we’ll expose you to all aspects of our work so you can develop into a competent engineer. This will include producing detailed designs and drawings, using the latest computer modelling software, undertake site surveys, or research ground-breaking technologies. You will review building designs to assess its compliance whilst also designing solutions to bespoke fire engineering problems, as part of the overall design team, alongside the architect and Statutory Authorities.

You will undertake calculations for smoke and temperature spread, as well as more complex smoke and evacuation modelling (CFD simulations), detailed fire dynamics and structural assessments. In addition, you would undertake analysis of potential fires, by researching into problems areas and develop advice based on the outcome. You will also provide recommendations in relation to life safety systems for buildings and assist the production of fire strategy reports for buildings.
