Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

For nearly five decades, Buro Happold has played a pivotal role in shaping the built environment of Saudi Arabia. Our enduring presence in Riyadh has enabled us to contribute meaningfully to the Kingdom’s transformation, delivering multidisciplinary solutions that align with Vision 2030.  In 2025, we expanded our regional reach with a new office in Jeddah, reinforcing our commitment to supporting clients across the western region.

From cultural institutions and infrastructure to strategic advisory and programme management, our teams are deeply embedded in the Kingdom’s evolving urban and economic landscape. We bring global expertise and local insight to every project, helping to realise Saudi Arabia’s bold ambitions for sustainable and inclusive development.

Some of our project highlights include:

Jeddah Opera House (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia)

Buro Happold is helping the city of Jeddah to offer visitors and residents access to a world leading performing arts centre, working collaboratively to deliver a venue that will be a landmark in the city for generations. The Jeddah Opera House will be the first opera house in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The venue is a response to the city’s ambition to offer a landmark performing arts centre. This unique venue will draw inspiration from Jeddah’s vibrant multicultural society and rich legacy as a prominent trading port on the Red Sea.

The venue will host a wide cultural programme, including music, drama and dance, guided by the diverse needs and aspirations of Jeddah’s population. Grounded in the city’s culture and history, it will also seek to become a world-class venue.

The Sports Boulevard (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia)

A multidisciplinary team from Buro Happold is collaborating closely with a consortium led by Coen + Partners to deliver the world’s largest linear park: The Sports Boulevard. The park will extend more than 135 kilometres on Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road, connecting Wadi Hanifah in the West with Wadi Al Sulai in the East through a grid of safe green pathways for pedestrians, cyclists, athletes, and horse-riders.

It will include 4.4 million square metres of greenery and open spaces, facilities for more than 50 multidisciplinary sports, 220km of cycling tracks, 149km of horse-riding trails and 135km of pedestrian walkways.
