BA English, followed by a Masters in Management.
I am a digital analyst, working in our digital and data advisory team. Our team provide digital consultancy across multiple sectors.
I wanted to apply for the grad scheme at MM because it combined consultancy with a really strong group purpose. I have worked in social enterprises throughout my time at university, and from this knew that the social and environmental impact of my work was a real driver for me, so I wanted to work at a consultancy that was aligned to this.
The most interesting thing about my work is the variety, so it’s hard to pick just one thing. Saying that, I have really enjoyed working in healthcare, working on the application of digital twins, and working on high level digital strategies.
My English degree is been a lot more useful than I anticipated. It’s really helped with my written and verbal communication skills, helped me in my understanding of concepts and theories, and helped me to consider multiple perspectives within my work.
I am involved in the Early Career Professionals network, which means I’m involved in a number of initiatives involving the people in wider our team who are in the first ten years of their career. I’ve loved how this has enabled me to connect with people across the business, and has allowed me to get involved with things such as onboarding, recruitment, comms, and events.
I have taken on a variety of different tasks and roles in projects which have all supported my development, such as managing client stakeholders, facilitating workshops, presenting internally and externally, and contributing to reports and proposals. I have also been supported in enrolling in different training courses to support my career, such as change management and Power BI.
I think it’s important to think laterally about your experience and how it might apply, and ultimately the most important thing is your willingness to be curious and to learn. Lots of people across the business don’t have backgrounds in engineering or STEM subjects, and this diversity is really important!
