I initially heard about the Graduate Commercial Engineering programme at Emerson on Gradcracker. I thoroughly enjoyed the fast-paced, rotational nature of the scheme and believe the opportunity provided a solid grounding across multiple business units within Emerson.
A personal highlight of the programme, was having the opportunity to accompany colleagues on customer site visits across the UK and Ireland. It was extremely interesting to see our work in action across a varied range of industries. I also enjoyed attending a Rosemount product course in Romania, where I was able to further my knowledge of the technical products and gain valuable hands-on experience.
My current role is Lead Project Engineer for the Measurement Solutions team, based in Stockport. I relish being able to use my technical background whilst developing my sales and interpersonal skills. I have always been encouraged to identify areas of improvement within the team and as a consequence, I have always felt welcomed as a valued colleague. The opportunities within Emerson are ever developing and I have had the chance to progress quickly through many varied roles.
An additional attraction to working at Emerson, is having the opportunity to partake in both internal and external events. I appreciate having the chance and encouragement to contribute in a range of activities including; innovation days, STEM activities and charity events. Recently, I organised a Tough Mudder where 16 employees raced around a 10k obstacle course.
I would highly recommend the Graduate Programme; not only was it personally and professionally highly rewarding, but the contacts I was fortunate enough to make are still invaluable in my role today.
