"There's nothing to lose, and there's so much to gain"
We speak to Ben, placement student at Mitsubishi Chemical, about work experience in and outside of industry.

About the role:

We are currently offering opportunities for Chemical or Process Engineering students to join us for a 12-month placement in our Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates Strategic Projects Group on Teesside, in the Northeast of England. Many of our recent industrial placement students have gone on to join the team in graduate roles following successful completion of their studies. We certainly hope that you can be one of them.

The skills we're looking for:

  • You are an undergraduate in chemical or process engineering, expecting at least a 2:1
  • A Master's degree course is strongly preferred
  • You have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated prior to the start of your placement
  • You are a passionate individual who want to pursue their engineering career in the chemical industry
  • You are motivated and committed with a strong team ethic
  • You are able to demonstrate a high degree of personal accountability

If you think this sounds like you, we can offer an exciting and challenging 12-month industrial placement starting in Summer 2027.

You must be eligible to work in the UK during your placement and ideally post-graduation.

What's in it for you:

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside our process engineers and R&D team. This will involve working on exciting strategic projects in areas such as design, on our pilot plant and in the laboratory.

You will become a vital team member from day one and will be challenged and taken outside your comfort zone, but you will receive training and be supported every step of the way. Mentored by experienced colleagues and managers you will have a personal development programme to ensure that you fulfil your ambitions during your placement.

We believe that by being open, honest and respectful with each other and working together as a team we will be able to deliver our promises. If you thrive in a focussed and collaborative environment, then Mitsubishi Chemical could be the company for you.

What we offer:

With our strong value focus of releasing individual potential, you will have access to personal development as well as a competitive salary of around £27,500 per annum and a benefits package.

If you would like the opportunity to join the global leader in methacrylates, we would be interested in hearing from you!

Application process:

Once you have submitted your CV and a covering letter, using the link below, the first stage of our recruitment process is a video call interview (Scheduled for late October) to get to know more about you. If successful, you will be invited to an in-person assessment centre which will be held in Mid-November at our Northeast location.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)
