Job Description

Undertaking a year out gives great insight to the day to day demands of the role of a Building Surveyor and allows for students to practically apply what has been taught at university. Placements also allow students to build relationships within the organisation and develop self-confidence and personal ability, also in most cases Year outs go onto to be the Organisations future Graduates. Meaning that when Year outs return to university it means they can concentrate solely on their studying rather than spending vital time job hunting and in many instances a Graduate will return with a first-class degree.

Your Day-to-Day:

Undertaking a year out gives great insight to the day to day demands of the role of a Building Surveyor and allows for students to practically apply what has been taught at university. Placements also allow students to build relationships within the organisation and develop self-confidence and personal ability. When Year outs return to university it means they can concentrate solely on their studying rather than spending vital time job hunting and in many instances a Graduate will return with a first-class degree. 

  • Attending site visits for a range of purposes including monitoring progress of works, building surveys, defects analysis and measured surveys with team 
  • Assist in the preparation of reports following the above site inspections and providing recommendations on compliance 
  • Support the undertaking of the Contract Administrator/Employers Agent role on various size projects and lead the management of the design team  
  • To be able to take a simple brief from a more senior member of staff and act upon it
  • To deliver elements of assignments under the supervision of more senior members of staff  
  • To provide all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner
  • Be a team player
  • To provide general support to the team

Graduate Programme:

We have a three-year development programme for our Graduates, during which time you will be fully supported in working towards various accreditation routes. You will also obtain further Learning & Development/soft skills training within the first 15 months.
