I decided to apply to Dorset Software as I thought the training and career development they offered was of a high standard and not many companies seemed to offer this investment into their staff.
The application process was straightforward and I was kept informed of proceedings throughout the process. I particularly enjoyed the interview day where I was able to visit the office and meet some other candidates.
For my role as a Project Manager the training was a mixture of individual training and studying for qualifications, alongside being assigned to real world projects where I was able to put the skills I was learning into practice.
Recently I have been assigned to a client who is building a disruptive application in the car insurance market. Before that I was managing various projects for another well-known insurance company. I've enjoyed and gained a lot from both as they are quite different assignments, although both are working with teams around the globe which is really interesting.
The cultural side of Dorset Software is one of the main perks in my opinion. The company really does support and invest in their employees. I have had various life changes during my time here and the company has supported me throughout. There are regular social events and most years a summer and winter party!
I would advise anyone starting at Dorset Software to embrace all the training, as this is not offered in a lot of companies. If you commit to putting the effort in, then the skills you learn will put you in a great position for a full career as a sought-after and experienced consultant.
