Name: Ben Marsh

Discipline: Civil / Structural

What attracted you to Cundall?

I was attracted to work for Cundall as they are focused on sustainability throughout a project. This focus has enabled them to work on many interesting and unique projects.

During the assessment day, it was mentioned that there are repeat clients. This indicated to me that the people working were likely to repeatedly achieve a high standard of service to their clients.

Throughout the hiring process, I was constantly informed of my progress and any concerns that I had were quickly answered. This indicated that everyone is important to Cundall, including new graduates.

What are your first impressions?

My first impressions of Cundall, during the assessment day and first few days of working, was one of a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I have found everyone to be friendly and nice, from talking to the Partners of the company to my fellow graduates. If I have had any questions, about anything, everyone is more than willing to answer them.

What have you been doing as part of your first few months at Cundall?

I am part of the structural team at Cundall, and I have helped design and assess buildings to be built and the refurbishment of older buildings. I have designed elements in concrete, timber, and steel. I have worked with a variety of computer software that has aided in this design process.

Are you enjoying working life (and how does it compare to your student days)?

I am enjoying working life, as it is more relaxed then studying as you can forget about work once you have left the office.

What are you most looking forward to over the next few months?

I am looking forward to more projects that challenge my engineering knowledge.

Do you have any helpful hints for someone who might be thinking of applying?

The assessments are a great opportunity to better understand the company and the assessment isn’t difficult.
