The fact that Cundall is a smaller consultancy but still has a diverse range of prestigious projects. Also, their focus and industry standing on sustainability not only on projects but throughout their own business, as shown by being the first consultancy to be endorsed as a One Planet Company. They also have a great training scheme with regular talks held by senior and experienced staff from across the business.

The friendly atmosphere in the office with staff who have a mass of experience and knowledge and are always willing to help.
What have you been doing as part of your first few months at Cundall?
I have spent time on site, getting involved with other disciplines of the construction industry and witnessing the testing of various building services. My time in the office has been spent developing my knowledge and learning where to apply it.
On the social side I have also got involved in various activities, from nights out to themed quizzes. It’s the best way to meet more people and get to know your colleagues.
Are you enjoying working life (and how does it compare to your student days)?
Having worked in the industry as an apprentice for 3 years I am already used to working life and the best feeling it brings is knowing that there is real world value in the work you are doing. Additionally, it’s also great that you are getting paid to do it!
What are you most looking forward to over the next few months?
Getting involved in different projects by rotating through the various teams and in turn being given more responsibility to complete challenging design work.
Do you have any helpful hints for someone who might be thinking of applying?
It’s always good to do your research before applying to join a new company to see that you agree with their values and goals. Most importantly, don’t be shy…..get involved!
