I’ve always had a strong interest in engineering; more specifically electrical power. I’d decided to study a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering after finishing a career as an engineer in the British Army.
I had found EES Ltd undergraduate placement advertisement and it was everything I could wish for in a placement. I was automatically attracted to the variety of electrical engineering fields combined into a role with EES Ltd which included, electrical machines, electronics and control systems. Additionally, the prospect of working on largescale projects for some of the most renowned engineering companies in the world was very exciting.
Working for EES Ltd has been great! They have wasted no time in getting me involved with many ongoing projects all over the UK; from the different aspects of design, to maintenance and commissioning. The vast variety of work is exciting; from installing new synchronisers on a scheme of hydro power stations, to carrying out maintenance on some of the largest rated generators in Europe. Being fully involved throughout the whole installation and commissioning process has been very rewarding for me, in addition to working alongside customers, providing a quality service.
I have received exceptional guidance from experienced engineers who have had no issue in explaining things to me, whether it was a simple or complex problem. I have felt fully supported throughout my time at EES thus far and I look forward to the challenging work that lies ahead.
