Being part of a Responsible Business

Morgan Sindall Construction Responsible Business Plan
An animated video which gives a bit more information to help explain our Responsible Business Plan.

A key driver when choosing an employer for a lot of people is the businesses actions when it comes to being responsible, ensuring the sustainability of the environment and people in the community.

Our social value and sustainability goals are a part of our Responsible Business Plan and set out commitment.

The plan helps us define how we put these commitments into practice both nationally and regionally in our own business, and how we will continue to make improvements and reinforce our position as a leader in the industry.

Our Responsible Business plan is underpinned by two things:

The UN Sustainable Development Goals to ‘end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all’. We consider these six goals to be those where we can have the biggest impact.

Morgan Sindall Group Total Commitments. Delivering on these is a strategic priority for the business. We measure our performance using key performance indicators and challenging targets, so we can make sure we keep improving.

The team in action!

Morgan Sindall Construction's Northern Home Counties take part in their annual Neighbourhood Week
Neighbourhood Week 2023 has been another huge success for our Northern Home Counties business. In just five days, the team managed to give 1,628 hours by 157 volunteers across eight different projects!

Here are the Northern Home Counties team discussing their annual Neighbourhood Week, where they pick charities and social enterprises across the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire to support.

In 2023, 157 people (made up of our team and those from our supply chain) donated 1,628 hours of charitable support in five days taking part in gardening, decorating and community refurbishment projects.

The team in Cambridge created a brand new pond area to attract wildlife and increase biodiversity at Wintringham School in St Neots. It was delivered on one week by the team, which included donations from our supply chain too.

The pond will also become the focus of learning for the pupils, to find out more about biodiversity and climate change.

The 10 Tonne Carbon Challenge is undertaken by our project teams and supply chain to find new ways to reduce carbon from the built environment.

So far we’ve saved 19,835 tonnes of carbon (as of July 2023). Our target to achieve for 2023 is 20,000 so with another challenge week to go in October we’re working towards our goal.

To find out more about the ways our teams have been reducing carbon, take a look at this article: Rising to the Carbon Challenge
