Graduate Site Manager

What did you study at University?

  • Construction Project Management.

What do you currently do at MSC?

  • Graduate Site Manager.

What made you want to apply for a Graduate role at MSC?

Morgan Sindall were constructing a new building at my university and one of the site managers had been to our lecture so I saw them often popping up. Being a tier 1 contractor with a good reputation for looking after their staff I felt Morgan Sindall would be a good start for my career in construction. I was recommended them by one of my lecturers as well.

How has your degree come in useful in your work?

When people ask this I often say my degree hasn’t helped at all. However, when I truly think about it, it often surprises me what knowledge I gained from university that has come in useful. I also spent a lot of time during my degree working with other people in different construction disciplines which showed me quickly about how we all work together during a project.

What development opportunities have you had? How has MSC supported you in this?

Morgan Sindall have supplied me with a lot of practical training allowing me to attend training courses such as safety netting and experience days where I can see how steel beams are made, roofing systems are brought together and curtain walling is constructed. They have also encouraged and supported me in completing my CIOB.

What one piece of advice would you give to anyone looking to apply to the Graduate programme?

When applying to the graduate programme just be yourself and show them that you are genuinely passionate.
