Quantity Surveying BSc
I am an Assistant Quantity Surveyor
I did summer placement in 2022, where I discussed the further opportunity with Morgan Sindall senior staff members and they advised this Graduate role was suitable for me.
The degree in itself was not that useful but I made some good connections throughout which helped me develop knowledge and get this job.
I have always had a good line manager from the start which has helped me develop my knowledge and understanding of the job. Furthermore, I am currently getting support for my RICS.
If they have done a placement then I would emphasise on that, on what they did on site and what sort of things they experienced, this would give a better understanding to an employer on what sort of level they are with their knowledge. Such as, in my placement I was already aware of the systems like COINS, SC Controller, Bluebeam, SIMS and 4projects, and these are the systems that I use on daily basis. I would also mention what sort of practical experience they had when they were at University, if they were involved in any groups, what role did they play, what did they achieve from it etc. Otherwise, I think employers are not highly bothered what sort of grades that you have achieved. Maybe mentioning hobbies and some other experience that you have had which will help them predict their personality.
