STFC Innovation is the technology transfer unit of STFC. Working as part of the Business and Innovation Directorate, it is responsible for the commercialisation and transfer of technology from the National Labourites to Industry.

Our facilities provide a range of research techniques using neutrons, muons, lasers and x-rays, and high-performance computing, where the complex analysis of large data and the expertise of our engineers and scientists cover a broad range of STEM fields. It is the role of the Innovation Team to work with STFC scientists and engineers across the UK to capture the IP of an initial spark and take it through to patent, licence or spin-out - handling the journey end-to-end! Through technology transfer, the Innovation Team seeks to deliver economic growth and societal impact as well as maximise the return on public investment.
