I’m a Graduate Electrical Engineer in Traction Power within Rail, Transport
My most proud milestone was hitting my IDCs dates on HS2 as a Design Coordinator. This involved much preparation and organisation to solve discipline interface issues and all relevant assurance whilst making sure all parts of the delivery where authored, reviewed and approved.
Working for Mott MacDonald has allowed me to explore the many avenues my career could proceed through such a wide network and collaborative environment. It has also allowed me to progress as an engineer in general by offering a wide range of project tasks be it technical analysis, simulations/modelling, design or engineering management. All these experiences will be vital once I apply for chartership which I feel is significant in my career progression
As someone who values routine, I really enjoyed the change from University to formal employment. I believe university can be inconsistent where sometimes of the year require more time and effort than others.
That is not the case with Mott MacDonald. Of course, there will be deadlines and delivery dates but the routine and organisation within such a workplace allows a much more consistent workload compared to that of university which I feel is better for myself mentally and especially in terms of time management.
The work life balance in great at Mott MacDonald. Mott MacDonald really value employee satisfaction so you are never expected to work long hours. MM is also great at making sure everyone is getting along so there’s plenty of chances to get involved in social events.
I would strongly recommend researching more into the culture of MM and the type of work take on, make sure this aligns with what you wish for yourself and really build enthusiasm to be apart of the MM team. If there’s anything you are unsure about before applying feel free to ask questions.
