In the cable equipment department, we design and build offshore handling equipment and systems used to lay cables for offshore renewables and fibre optic telecommunications.
In total there are 450 submarine cables in operation around the world spanning over 850,000 miles. 95% of the worlds data is transmitted at speeds of up to up to 400GB of data per second. These cables are installed using equipment such as Royal IHC’s linear cable engine below.
There is currently 55 GW of installed offshore wind capacity globally which is predicted to double by 2026. The transmission cables used to connect offshore wind farms are the biggest currently in construction with diameters up to 250mm and weighing up to 100 kg/m. These cables are installed using equipment such as Royal IHC’s tracked tensioner below.
As part of the subsea cable equipment engineering team you will be involved in all aspects of the design stage from our offices in the heart of Newcastle.
Our clients operate globally and as such we carry out installation and commissioning activities all over the world. You will have ample opportunity to travel to client sites and deliver your project giving you the experience of the complete project lifecycle.
