Global Liquidity and Cash Management (GLCM) is one of HSBC's global product lines. We are part of Global Banking and Markets and global Commercial Banking and we support relationship managers by providing the products and expertise their customers need.

GLCM is an integral part of our client proposition and employs our global network to capture market share and deliver growth. The business covers 90% of the world’s trade and capital flows, with access to over 150 clearing systems. We are uniquely positioned to help clients make payments, manage their liquidity and maximise the use of their cash and work with 95% of Fortune 100 Companies. What to expect

We are looking for forward-thinking, driven and perceptive graduates who will become the future leaders of HSBC.

This programme appeals particularly to individuals who are self-starters, highly driven, passionate about growing commercial business and have high levels of integrity.

Over two years, through four six-month rotations, you’ll gain broad experience within the Global Liquidity & Cash Management business, where you’ll experience how we help clients manage their liquidity to ensure they make their cash work hard for their businesses. There may be the opportunity for top performers to complete one of their rotations internationally.

These rotations will be backed up with a wealth of training and development opportunities, including support to study for a professional qualification, a graduate buddy, a dedicated programme manager and access to senior business leaders through regular development events. In this way, you will learn about client satisfaction, the impact of governance and risk management, you’ll work on key products and have the chance to oversee business projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Achieve a technical understanding In Global Liquidity & Cash Management, its products, solutions, systems and procedures.
  • Develop communication, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills working as a part of the GLCM team.
  • Build project management skills, including prioritisation and time management, understand strategic context and develop confidence around senior managers.
  • Analysis of financial and non-financial information, taking into account the economic and regulatory environment in your analysis.
  • Take responsibility for tracking and recording customer information, preparing standardised reports.
  • Ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organisation.

You’ll be able to take part in our sustainability initiatives. Our volunteering programme, for example, could help you to develop new skills, while contributing to the communities in which we work.

Learning and development

We offer a high-quality learning and development programme. Your time with us will begin with our global induction event, Global Graduate Induction, which will take place in London in July 2019 for all graduates joining our global businesses. Once you’ve completed the Global Graduate Induction event, you will join the Global Banking and Markets Technical Training in August/September 2019, which will be delivered in the UK.

Your training will be carefully structured to enable you to fulfil your potential. As well as having regular access to business leaders for coaching and advice, you’ll have the opportunity to study for an industry-recognised qualification, while constructive feedback will enable you to measure your performance. You’ll be assigned a line manager and buddy, who will offer guidance and support. Continued learning will involve “lunch and learn” sessions and soft-skills training.

On completion of the programme, you’ll be a regarded as a specialist in your area and could start progressing towards a more senior role. You will have the flexibility to choose a permanent role that is most suited to your interests and skills.


The ideal candidate for this role will:

  • Have a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent and 120 UCAS points or equivalent (excluding General Studies).
  • Be available to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. you may be required to relocate based upon placement opportunities, commitment to being nationally mobile in this role is essential.
  • Have consistently achieved objectives set for you and taken action to improve your own performance.
  • Have self-awareness with the confidence to work independently and take responsibility for your own development.
  • Have worked collaboratively with other colleagues, supporting them when possible.

In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will be proactive, forward-thinking, ready to challenge the status quo, with strong drive and determination, keen to learn and develop at all times, have a natural ability to build relationships with colleagues and a willingness to deliver on difficult assignments, possess an aptitude for understanding the underlying strategy which underpins the bank direction, be skilled at project management and have a keen interest in business development.
