About Stantec

Webinar Highlight
Jo's initial attraction to Stantec: their values, "community-feel", and training and development opportunities...

The Stantec community unites more than 34,000 employees working in over 450 locations across 6 continents. We have been working with our clients and communities in the UK for over 150 years. We plan, design, deliver and manage the development and infrastructure needed to support the creation of sustainable, healthy and prosperous communities.

Our teams provide effective and relevant solutions, translating our clients’ vision into valued consents, deliverable plans for projects and programmes, and efficient designs for delivery, based on technical excellence and deep market insights. We deal with today’s challenges, but also keep a fairer, better tomorrow in sight, looking at how we deliver clean growth, support radical changes in our economy and meet the needs of future communities.

The Opportunity

You’ll join our Glasgow Civils Team, a supportive local team of around 20 people who are able to provide day-to-day guidance. You’ll also be part of our wider integrated Scottish civils team, working alongside colleagues in Glasgow and Edinburgh and learning from engineers across a range of disciplines.

You’ll have the opportunity to gain experience on a variety of water projects across Scotland and the wider UK, supporting work for clients including Scottish Water, Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water and Irish Water.

Our projects include storm overflow improvements, flooding schemes, asset inspections, rising mains, pumping stations, fluoride schemes, bioresources and other water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You’ll also see how civil engineering connects with other specialist areas, including pipelines, dams and reservoirs, structural engineering, hydraulics, mechanical engineering and geotechnical engineering.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll be supported to build your technical knowledge and confidence through hands-on project work, mentoring and learning opportunities in areas such as geotechnical engineering, storm overflows, sustainability, buildability and pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project teams working on AMP8 and DV4 water frameworks.
  • Learn how civil engineering helps improve water supplies, wastewater networks and treatment facilities.
  • Assist with work across storm overflow, flooding, asset inspection and water infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from different engineering disciplines to understand how projects are planned and delivered.
