The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Urban Drainage Modeller in our Warrington office, where you will support urban drainage and wastewater network modelling projects for major regulated water companies across the UK and Ireland.

Working with major regulated water companies across the UK and Ireland, Stantec’s wastewater network modelling discipline has developed a reputation as one of the industry leaders. As part of a multidisciplinary service, we engage with projects from conception through to delivery, driving innovation and excellence in everything we do. The variety in our work ensures our teams develop a broad skillset, with the opportunity to deliver projects that improve water quality, manage urban pollution and contribute to Stantec’s environmental commitments.

At Stantec, you’ll be part of one of the UK’s largest local wastewater modelling teams, with more than 20 specialists based locally across Manchester and Warrington, ranging from recent graduates through to experts with over 30 years’ experience. This means exceptional mentoring, knowledge sharing and a strong team culture.

About The Role

Working alongside senior modellers, you will support hydraulic model building, integrated urban drainage studies, resilience modelling and water quality modelling. You’ll gain valuable experience on high-profile projects that shape long-term water infrastructure strategy, likely working with United Utilities on their modelling framework and Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan Delivery Partner programme. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Supporting hydraulic model building and model updates for wastewater and urban drainage networks.
  • Contributing to integrated urban drainage studies, resilience assessments and water quality modelling.
  • Helping assess long-term drainage and wastewater infrastructure needs through strategic modelling work.
  • Supporting high-profile programmes, including United Utilities modelling framework and DWMP Delivery Partner work.
  • Working collaboratively with senior modellers and multidisciplinary teams to develop robust, future-focused solutions.
  • Developing your technical modelling capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing and hands-on project experience.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The professional progression plan for this role will support you towards CIWEM or ICE chartership, depending on your academic background and chosen pathway.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting projects that improve water quality, manage urban pollution and strengthen the resilience of wastewater and drainage networks. Your modelling work will help clients understand network performance, plan long-term infrastructure investment and develop robust, future-proofed solutions for complex urban drainage challenges.
