The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Cardiff office, where you will support the delivery of clean and wastewater infrastructure projects for local and national clients.

About The Role

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will sit within a local engineering team in our Cardiff office and work closely with specialists across multiple disciplines to deliver water sector projects for clients across Wales, the wider region and the UK.

Key projects may include clean and wastewater treatment process upgrades, infrastructure improvements and programmes that help clients deliver more resilient water services and improved environmental outcomes across Wales and beyond.

This role will give you exposure to engineering activities from feasibility through to construction, including the production of calculations, analysis and drawings, while developing practical knowledge of how civil engineering supports sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure.

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will help develop and deliver practical design solutions for our clients. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Supporting engineering activities from feasibility through to construction, including the production of detailed calculations, analysis and drawings.
  • Using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other industry software to present design solutions for clients.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, bids and proposals.
  • Providing technical input on civil engineering matters to support the wider project team.
  • Attending meetings and workshops with clients and colleagues from other disciplines.

About you:

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with your Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, we’d love to receive your application if you are:-

  • An Adapter - You're able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A Perseverer - You stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • A Collaborator - You work effectively with lots of different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A Problem-Solver - You love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that colleagues are able to provide the appropriate level of support.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection and life assurance
  • Permanent employment contract to demonstrate our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec
  • Professional progression plan, supporting you to become chartered with ICE.

Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.

We offer multiple start dates throughout next summer in June, July, August and September.

Please note: we recruit on an ongoing basis and therefore may close this role before the stated closing date so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
