The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Urban Drainage Modeller in our Bristol office, where you will support urban drainage and wastewater network modelling projects for major regulated water companies across the UK and Ireland.

Stantec’s wastewater network modelling discipline has developed a reputation as one of the industry leaders. In Bristol, you will join a local Urban Drainage Modelling team of 13, working as part of a wider South West and Wales team of around 30 and a national modelling community. As part of a multidisciplinary service, you will contribute to projects from conception through to delivery, supporting work that improves water quality, manages urban pollution, reduces flooding and contributes to Stantec’s environmental commitments.

About The Role

Working alongside senior urban drainage and wastewater network modellers, you will help develop, enhance and verify hydraulic models to inform urban drainage assessments and support solutions for storm overflows, flooding and other drainage challenges. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development, enhancement and verification of hydraulic models.
  • Contributing to urban drainage assessments for storm overflow, flooding and growth-related projects.
  • Using modelling outputs to help identify and assess solutions that improve drainage network performance.
  • Supporting projects for clients including Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, Wessex Water and South West Water.
  • Working collaboratively with other Urban Drainage Modelling teams and disciplines across the region.
  • Developing your technical capability in modelling software, GIS and wider water industry approaches through project work, mentoring and training.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The professional progression plan for this role will support you towards ICE or CIWEM chartership.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting projects that improve water quality, reduce pollution and strengthen the resilience of urban drainage networks. Your models will help identify and mitigate flood risks, support cleaner rivers and coastlines, and enable clients to plan for sustainable growth so that water systems can meet future demand.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.
