The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Urban Drainage Modeller in our Leeds office, where you will be part of a specialist team helping to improve river health, reduce flooding and support more resilient urban drainage systems.

At Stantec, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers, modellers and multidisciplinary specialists to deliver practical, sustainable solutions for our clients and communities. This is an opportunity to develop your technical capability in hydraulic modelling while contributing to important water sector programmes, including WINEP, flooding, growth and outline design projects. You will support the delivery of major Yorkshire Water investment programmes including AMP8 CSO, DWMP and Specialist Modelling Framework projects, helping clients better understand and improve the performance of their wastewater networks.

About The Role

As a Graduate Urban Drainage Modeller, you will support the delivery of modelling and drainage projects while developing your understanding of the water industry and how different disciplines work together. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking urban drainage modelling tasks using specialist software, with training and support provided.
  • Using hydraulic models to help assess flooding, growth, storm overflows and outline design challenges.
  • Supporting quality assurance, documentation and technical reporting for modelling outputs.
  • Working with colleagues across modelling, civil engineering, mechanical and electrical disciplines to develop joined-up solutions.
  • Supporting the maintenance, verification, calibration and Fit for Use assessment of wastewater network models, using data from surveys and other sources to understand network performance and support needs and risk assessments.
  • Contributing to projects that improve river health and reduce flooding and pollution impacts for communities.
  • Beginning your professional development and chartership journey with support from experienced mentors.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The professional progression plan for this role will support you towards ICE or CIWEM chartership.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting projects that reduce flooding, improve storm overflow performance and contribute to healthier rivers. By developing and applying hydraulic models, you will help clients understand network performance, test options and make informed decisions about future investment. Your work will support resilient, sustainable water infrastructure and play a part in improving people’s lives through reduced flooding and pollution.
