The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Cardiff office, where you'll be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline.

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you'll join a close-knit team of 17 civil engineers and technicians within a wider multidisciplinary office of around 90 professionals. Our team delivers a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors, providing excellent opportunities to develop your technical skills and gain broad project experience. A significant proportion of our work supports the education sector, while we also have a strong focus on drainage design, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and SAB approval projects across Wales. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll contribute to the delivery of innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions while developing your expertise in a supportive and collaborative environment.

About The Role

As a Graduate Civil Engineer you'll:

  • Support the design and assessment of civil engineering solutions for a variety of building and infrastructure developments, with a particular focus on drainage design, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and SAB approval projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, modelling, drawings and technical reports using industry-standard software, under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Work alongside senior engineers and technicians to support the successful delivery of projects across a range of sectors, including education and other key development areas.
  • Attend site visits and surveys to gain practical experience, monitor project progress and help identify opportunities and constraints that may influence design solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable, low-carbon and resilient infrastructure solutions that deliver positive outcomes for clients, communities and the environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across civil engineering and wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective project delivery.
  • Develop your technical, professional and commercial skills through hands-on project experience, structured training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Participate in Stantec's graduate development programme and receive support in working towards professional registration with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Engineering Council.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is IEng or CEng status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Your Impact

This role will help create high-quality, sustainable and resilient buildings that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment. Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.

About you:

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in BEng Civil Engineering, a knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Office and AutoCAD would be beneficial, and a keen interest in working in the Buildings sector, you'll be:
