The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Gloucester office, where you'll be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline.

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you'll join a close-knit team of Civil Engineers delivering projects across the South West. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you'll gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of developments spanning the university, education, data centre, defence and leisure sectors.

This variety will provide opportunities to work on projects of different scales and complexities, helping you build a broad range of technical and professional skills early in your career. Supported by experienced colleagues, you'll contribute to the planning, design and delivery of sustainable civil engineering solutions that help shape the communities and infrastructure of the future.

About The Role

As a Graduate Civil Engineer you'll:

  • Assist with the design of drainage and external works projects across all RIBA stages, from initial concept through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Support the development of drainage strategies and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) solutions for a variety of projects across the South West.
  • Produce engineering drawings and models using industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoWorks and MicroDrainage.
  • Assist in preparing drainage reports, technical specifications and supporting documentation for planning and regulatory submissions.
  • Work closely with experienced engineers to develop practical, sustainable and compliant civil engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams delivering projects across the university, education, data centre, defence and leisure sectors.
  • Attend project meetings and site visits to gain an understanding of project requirements, site constraints and construction activities.
  • Develop your technical and professional skills through mentoring, structured training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD), while working towards professional registration with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is IEng or CEng status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Your Impact

This role will help create high-quality, sustainable and resilient buildings that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment. Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.

About you:
