The Opportunity

As a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Newcasltle office, you will join a civil engineering team of approximately 15 people, working as part of Stantec's wider Water North team. You will collaborate closely with engineers from a range of disciplines to develop practical solutions that support water company investment programmes and improve essential infrastructure for communities.

You will have the opportunity to work on projects for major regulated water companies including Northumbrian Water and Yorkshire Water, supporting the delivery of asset improvement schemes, new infrastructure and works associated with water and wastewater treatment facilities. Through a combination of project work, mentoring and technical development, you will build the skills and experience needed to develop a successful career in civil engineering within the water sector.

About The Role

Working as part of a collaborative project team, you will support the delivery of civil engineering solutions from concept design through to construction. You will gain experience across a range of water infrastructure projects while developing your technical, analytical and communication skills. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Undertaking civil engineering calculations, technical assessments and design activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of drawings, reports and design documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, structural and process engineers.
  • Attending site visits and supporting project teams in developing practical engineering solutions.
  • Developing your technical capability through on-the-job learning, mentoring and Stantec's graduate development programme.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The professional progression plan for this role will support you towards ICE chartership.

Your Impact

Your work will contribute to the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure that supports reliable services, environmental improvement and long-term resilience for local communities. By helping to develop practical engineering solutions, you will play a role in improving water quality, supporting regulatory compliance and maintaining essential infrastructure.
