The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate River & Coastal Civil Engineer in our Bristol office, where you will be part of our vibrant Infrastructure team.

About The Role

As a Graduate River & Coastal Civil Engineer, you will join a large and diverse team working on a wide variety of impactful projects across the UK. You will support the delivery of innovative solutions for the water environment while furthering your technical understanding of flood risk, hydrology, hydraulics, and water management.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the detailed design of flood alleviation schemes, river and waterways structures, wetland designs, surface water drainage, and coastal protection works.
  • Delivering river restoration, natural flood management (NFM), and climate resilience strategies.
  • Producing hydrology and hydraulic assessments, optioneering studies, and technical report writing.
  • Assisting senior staff with programme and project management as well as carrying out site visits and surveys.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. You will benefit from our structured graduate training scheme and be assigned a dedicated mentor to support your route toward professional Chartership status (CEng, CSci, or CEnv) with relevant bodies such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

Your Impact

In this role, your work will directly help protect communities and ecosystems from the impacts of climate change and flooding. Working alongside senior specialists, your input on river restoration, coastal protection, and sustainable flood risk management will contribute directly to climate resilience, natural capital enhancement, and net-zero goals.
