Introduction to R&D at RB

A fantastic opportunity is available for a Formulation Assistant to join our R&D Operations team within Hygiene & Home, on a FTC for 12months.

Working as part of the team responsible for the delivery of existing product development for brands such as Air Wick, Cillit Bang, Mr Sheen, Dettol and many more, you will support formulation development for new and existing air freshener and homecare products. The role will involve formulation development and evaluation at laboratory scale, process scale up and validation, stability assessments and technical report writing.

The work in this team is very fast paced and varied, dealing with advert approval for UK TV, everyday problem solving, consumer complaints, roll-out and maintenance of the aerosol product format.


  • Deliver assigned projects and activities for existing product development
  • Work internally on next generation product claims and ‘new news’ opportunities
  • Support global roll-outs of existing products
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all development activities on assigned projects conforms to legislative, Health and Safety and environmental requirements, including the adoption and tracking of laboratory best practices

Do you have?

  • Degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline
  • Relevant experience of formulation/product development
  • Results orientated, entrepreneurial and self-motivated with an ability to evaluate and take risks.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and an ability to think out of the box
  • The ability to become the RB ‘expert’ in product implementation and launch areas as needed
  • Good communicator coupled with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
