The world and our clients have lots of problems and we are motivated in finding engineering and technology solutions to these problems. Through our meaningful innovations, our Consultancy experts help organisations make lives securer, safer, sustainable and affordable.

Our people join us to make an impact on the world and to learn from some of the best minds in the industry. Our people stay with us because they value our highly supportive team environment and the career opportunities provided by our sustained growth.

Team information:

Frazer-Nash’s Weapons Assurance Team specialises in the field of ordnance, munitions and explosives (OME), and their integration into complex weapons systems and platforms.

We provide independent and professional expertise, advice, guidance, and direction to deliver tailored scientific and technical solutions, from concept to design to disposal.

By joining this team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects with government and industry clients, nationally and internationally, to support the development and through-life management of advanced weapons systems.

What you’ll be doing at Frazer-Nash?

We require an enthusiastic graduate to join our team of experts to be involved in supporting the design, development, production and through-life management of small arms, naval guns, complex weapons, artillery systems and military and law enforcement products.

The opportunity exists to develop the role within the team and build key responsibilities within Frazer-Nash.

We are therefore seeking a motivated graduate engineer or scientist, with a firm grounding in one or more underpinning technical fields, such as Safety, Systems Engineering, or Engineering Design, to help us to deliver our weapons systems workstreams for our clients within the defence industry.

Project work will include:

  • Helping our customers to address risks and issues, and helping to implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Project management: As a graduate, you will be introduced to, and trained in, managing projects, in accordance with our ISO-9001 accredited processes.
  • Working as a team, led by experts, within and outside of your discipline, to help us deliver multidisciplinary projects.
  • Authoring and verifying technical deliverables i.e., assessments, reports, analyses etc.
  • Facilitating and participating in stakeholder panels, reviews, meetings, workshops etc.
  • Developing your core consultancy skills:
  • Assisting the development of new business, for example by representing Frazer-Nash at conferences, seminars and prospective client meetings.
  • Supporting the responses to enquiries and the writing of bids. Our projects are remarkably diverse and can last from a few weeks to many years of sustained support.
  • Although a technical role, you will be joining a consultancy where we expect you to work across our business and with our clients. Although Frazer-Nash operates a flexible working policy, there are potential opportunities to travel and work at client sites.

What you’ll need?

We are looking for ambitious, intelligent and inquisitive individuals, who can solve challenging problems. We embrace diversity, innovation and collaboration at Frazer-Nash and provide the opportunity for talented people like you to work on projects that make a difference to our world.

Key requirements for this role include:

  • 2:1 Degree or higher (or equivalent/experience) with a related Engineering or relevant scientific bias.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • You will be expected to be able to critically question what you see, to solve problems that build on your technical understanding, and show initiative and ownership for your ideas and work.
  • Be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work with supervision and with others with different technical backgrounds.

It is to your advantage if you meet any of the following additional desirable abilities:

  • Experience in Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives/Safety Engineering Practices/Defence.

The nature of our work means that we require staff to access Government material, it is therefore necessary for all our employees to gain appropriate security clearance.

We will apply for clearance if you have successfully been selected for a position, and we will decide if we can successfully gain full clearance on your behalf based on the content of your application. Any offer of employment is subject to this requirement being met.

What can Frazer-Nash offer you?

We want to support your career development so that you achieve relevant professional qualifications including Chartership; All our graduates join our Professional Development Scheme, which is currently accredited by five professional institutions (IMechE, RAeS, IET, RINA & IoP) with plans for further accreditation.

We also can offer the opportunity to undertake Industry recognised training to support your career development.

Frazer-Nash encourages you to manage your work at an early stage in your career as we believe this accelerates your career development. Reporting to your Group Leader, you will be accountable for your own work from day 1, but also have all the necessary support from your manager and others in ‘the team’

Our people are at the very heart of what we do, they are the reason our clients work with us to solve some of their greatest challenges. At Frazer-Nash, we want all our people to feel they belong, confident in the knowledge that we value and respect the commitment they have made by entrusting their careers and expertise to us.
