"I started by having weekly meetings with my line manager about how the placement is going and how I am developing in the role. Overall, my time at ASMPT is going well."
As of writing this I have been on this placement for 2 months. I am still learning different parts of the role and tasks that go along with it but have already learned a lot and I am able to do lots of tasks independently. Started off the placement by shadowing and helping others do tasks. As I learned how to do new processes, I would be assigned to do them in the new projects coming to the department.
I have been getting on with everyone well and have had no issues. Also, I started by having weekly meetings with my line manager about how the placement is going and how I am developing in the role. Overall, my time at ASMPT is going well.
First starting the role meant shadowing other members of the team to learn the processes of the role. However, after learning how to do certain things/ tasks I am left to do them on my own unless I ask for further assistance. This move from shadowing to independent responsibility happened quite early on. The amount of responsibility you get will keep increases as you become familiar with different parts or the role.
Many people are working from home, so the office is fairly empty most of the time. Due to what my role is means I have to come into work so I can go into the lab. There are hand sanitiser stations at each of the entrances to the building along with a digital thermometer at the admin reception. Office desks have screens between them and are spaced out. Different parts of the buildings are zoned out which limits contact between different departments as well, so you only are around a few people on a day-to-day basis.
