WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Metals Minerals and Mining Inspector Graduate to join our graduate programme for 2024, based in Liverpool, UK.

The AHK Technical Department provides comprehensive, professional and multi-disciplinary expertise to strategically develop, lead and provide operational support for AHK’s global inspection business in the mining, mineral and metals industries. This includes; sample preparation, weighing, sampling and moisture determination (SP-WSMD), FMP-TML, draught surveys, stockpile inventory, radioactivity surveys, audits, due diligence, mineral processing, mineralogy, geology, conflict minerals, fraud, adulteration and substitution investigations and consultancy. 

Technical and commercial risks are managed and mitigated by the enforcement of, and compliance with, international standards, codes, industry best practice, Technical and Operational Guidance (TOG), and Standard Operational Procedures (SOP), whilst paying cognisance to client’s commercial specifications.

The successful candidate will provide support and promote the strategic technical development, standardisation and advancement of AHK’s global inspection services including WSMD and auditing.

  • Competent user of MS word, MS excel and Gmail. 
  • Undertakes continuation of professional development (CPD) and engaged in life-long learning.

Required Work Experience

  • International experience or interest in the mining, mineral and metals industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Evidence based approach to problem solving.
  • Quality / auditing knowledge is advantageous 

Required Qualifications 

  • Relevant academic (e.g. BSc, MSc) or equivalent industry qualifications.
  • Professional qualifications are preferable.
  • Full, clean, driving licence.

Languages

  • Spanish or Mandarin are desirable but not essential.

Travel 

International travel is likely to, for example; mines, ports, warehouses, refineries, smelters, processing plants, laboratories, vaults and offices, as follows:

  • Short duration (two days to one week), at short notice (24-48 hours).
  • Intermediate duration (one week up to three weeks), may be occasionally required.
  • Medium to longer term (up to three months or beyond), depending on business requirements.

Occasional evening and weekend work at short notice may be required.
