We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic designer to add their skills and design flair to our team. This is a hands-on role where the ability to visualise and deliver exciting user centred solutions in the healthcare space is essential. About the role

Championing user experience and brand is central to our work in medical technology, and Industrial Designers lead this thinking for our clients. You will work in diverse multifunctional project teams together with highly talented engineers, scientists and designers to generate innovative solutions and develop world-leading medical products for our clients around the globe.

You will be using your design skills to contribute to a wide variety of development projects with support and guidance from seniors, from initial idea generation through to the delivery and manufacturing support for market ready products.

At Cambridge Consultants we work on complex and challenging briefs and our clients look to us to shape their futures. You will work alongside other designers to craft compelling design outputs.

Specific responsibilities

Day to day you will use your core skills in industrial design, sketching, and design thinking to:

  • Participate in concept generation and problem-solving workshops
  • Create clear and impactful presentations to convey ideas to clients and development teams. There will be opportunities to interact with clients.
  • Prepare designs at a range of fidelities i.e., from sketches to detailed 3D renders or animations
  • Manufacture prototypes, hands-on or by liaising with suppliers
  • Evaluate user needs and designs at user studies
  • Share your skills and experience with the wider design team whilst also receiving mentorship from experienced designers

What you’ll need

A successful designer in the Design Group in the MedTech Department will:

  • Be a talented and creative Industrial Designer who is an enthusiastic team player
  • A top degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related design discipline
  • An excellent portfolio demonstrating your visual flair, meticulous attention to detail and ability to communicate innovative designs in a clear and attractive way.
  • Mastery of graphical presentation tools (e.g. hand sketching, Creative Cloud, 3D rendering)
  • Strong ability to use CAD tools to design attractive, functional and manufacturable designs (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Excellent verbal and written storytelling/ idea communication skills

Additionally, experience designing a digital and physical user experience would be beneficial.

We feel this role will be best performed by someone who can regularly visit the office.
