Creating positive change

As providers of public service that benefits everyone in the UK, we see it as our role to be a force for positive change and for our work to create long-term benefit for society. It starts with understanding impact – on people, on communities and on the natural environment, ensuring we address their needs both now and in the future.

We are committed to sustainability and we actively support our people to get involved too. Our aim is to leave behind a positive footprint, engaging our people along the journey so they feel proud of what we do every day.

Taking time to be a force for good

Every year our employees can take a paid day’s leave to volunteer. We call these Community Involvement Days and you can spend yours as a team or on your own.

As long as your chosen activity is run by a not-for-profit or an organisation that supports the local economy, environment, education or employment, we’ll pay you to support them for the day.

Here for young people everywhere

We don’t just reach out to the young people among our ranks, or in the schools we maintain, but to all young people across the country itching to unleash their potential. That’s why we help fund the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, which unlocks new avenues for young people from all backgrounds.

"The sections of the DofE encourage young people to discover for themselves the satisfaction of giving back to society through volunteering; of developing new skills; of taking part in a physical activity; and the pleasure of discovering the countryside or the sea by planning and executing a challenging expedition.

These experiences teach more general lessons and serve as a practical demonstration of what can be achieved through determination and persistence. In an age where employment opportunities are scarce, these skills easily translate into the world of work, boosting young people’s career prospects."

– HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Changing communities together

We’re a huge organisation and we believe we should drive long-term societal benefits wherever possible. We aim to always spend more on social enterprises and in recent years, these have become a larger and larger proportion of our supplier list.

Alone, Amey makes a huge impact, but together with like-minded businesses that make their communities the best they can be, there’s no limit to the difference we can make.
