Professional Recognition in the Royal Navy

If you have a degree in engineering, during your career you can work towards gaining Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. The RN has agreements with the below institutions to streamline the application process.

The different roles are accredited by different institutions:

• Weapon Engineer Officer – through the  Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
• Air Engineer Officer – through the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) or Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
• Marine Engineer Officer – through the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
