The Opportunity

The Security Advisory practice provides a range of tailored consultancy services including Security Risk Assessment, Security Strategy, Security Operations, Security Governance and Culture, and Security Awareness.

We work across a range of sectors including transport (Rail, Aviation and Maritime), infrastructure (Energy, Water and Data) and property (Sports and Venus, Government Property, Healthcare) amongst others. We work both to support the wider Arup with project delivery, and directly with Clients to help them understand their security risk and implement effective mitigation measures. 

You will work alongside others in our Security Advisory team and directly with clients across a range of sectors to develop our security offering, in partnership with other subject-matter experts from Resilience, Security & Risk and design team members.

You will be part of the team responsible for producing Security Needs Assessment and Threat Vulnerability and Risk Assessments, supported by our threat specialists, which will assist our clients to develop their operational requirements which will inform the physical and operational design requirements.  

You will be aligned  but limited  to:

  • Conduct crime and security data research and analysis to identify threats, vulnerabilities and emerging security risks.
  • Support the production of Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (TVRAs) and Security Needs Assessments (SNAs) for a range of projects and sectors.
  • Assist clients in defining and developing their operational security requirements and security strategies.
  • Develop proportionate, risk-based security mitigation measures and recommendations to address identified security risks.
  • Contribute to the delivery of security consultancy projects through stakeholder engagement, technical reporting and presentation of findings. 

Is this role right for you?

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

Undergraduate/Bachelor's level (or equivalent) in Security Risk, Computer Science (inc. Cybersecurity), Counter Terrorism, Mechanical Engineering.

With the following skills and attributes;

  • Security risk assessment; threat and vulnerability assessment;  
  • Physical security design principles; crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED);  
  • Risk management and mitigation; data analysis and interpretation; research and information gathering; technical report writing; incident and threat analysis; understanding of security standards, guidance and best practice; communication; problem solving and critical thinking;
  • Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft PowerPoint; Microsoft Teams; Microsoft SharePoint; Microsoft Outlook;  
  • Attention to detail; quantitative and qualitative analysis; presentation skills;  
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams; strong written and verbal communication skills., Power BI (desirable); AutoCAD (desirable); Bluebeam Revu (desirable); ArcGIS or QGIS (desirable);

  • Full working rights in the country of application
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
