Edwards is the brand name our customers have come to trust and rely upon, but we are also part of the much bigger Atlas Copco Group which consists of four global Business Areas including Vacuum Technique. Each Business Area operates through a number of divisions, which are product driven and customer focused. In each division people are either working at a customer centre, in a product company or distribution centre. Customer Centres are the sales and service offices which are in direct contact with customers across a number of countries. The Sales & Marketing graduate programme sits within the Edwards Customer Centre covering the North and East of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

One of our greatest strengths is the diversity of our workforce with people of all educational and cultural backgrounds working together. We believe that talent and diversity is the key to success and that everybody should feel valued and able to reach their full potential, both in their development and their contribution to the business.

About Edwards

Edwards is a leading developer and manufacturer of sophisticated vacuum products, exhaust management systems and related value-added services. Edwards solutions are integral to manufacturing processes for semiconductors, flat panel displays, LEDs and solar cells. They are also used within an increasingly diverse range of industrial processes including power, glass and other coating applications; steel and other metallurgy; pharmaceutical and chemical; and for scientific instruments in a wide range of R&D applications.

Edwards has over 4,000 employees worldwide engaged in the design, manufacture and support of high technology vacuum and exhaust management equipment. Edwards has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Europe, Asia and North America.

About our Graduate programme

Our Customer Centre offers Edwards’ vacuum products and services to customers in scientific, industrial and after-care service markets across more than 90 countries. We are continuing to grow and are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and customer focused person to join our Sales and Marketing Graduate Programme in line with our ambitious growth plans.

You’ll undertake four main placements over two years, get involved in real-life projects and shadow experienced sales engineers to help build your knowledge of Edwards’ products and the wider Vacuum business. At Edwards, you’re empowered to explore opportunities and drive your professional development. As part of this graduate programme, you’ll gain practical sales and marketing experience and have access to all the training, learning and assistance you need to build a great foundation for a career in technical sales and marketing.

Where would I work?

You will be based at our Global Headquarters in Burgess Hill, Sussex, a short drive away from the vibrant seaside city of Brighton and Hove. As part of the programme, you could also undertake a brief placement at one of our manufacturing sites at either Eastbourne (Sussex) or Clevedon (Somerset), or indeed undertake a short overseas placement, for example in our offices in Brno (Czech Republic), to provide you with a wide range of different perspectives and experiences.

What will I do?

Throughout the programme, you’ll learn how to promote Edwards as the core supplier of products and services in a given territory or portfolio. Each placement will develop your understanding of how each part of our Customer Centre works together to satisfy our customers’ needs and how we deliver the best possible customer experience to ensure our products and solutions are first in mind and first in choice. By the end of the programme, you’ll have gained experience in customer care, technical support, applications, inside sales and will have shadowed experienced sales engineers focused on different customer markets and territories.

As part of the programme, you'll:

  • Learn about vacuum products and solutions that we sell in our Customer Centre, ranging from scientific, industrial and after-market products and applications.
  • Experience all aspects of the sales cycle and understand the foundations of effective selling.
  • Collaborate with the wider sales team to ensure transparent and collaborative management of the business area.
  • Develop sales plans, targets and forecasts to assist the wider sales teams’ growth plans.
  • Identify and follow up on business lead opportunities to promote and sell the benefits of Edwards’ products and services.
  • Analyse why we win and why we lose business and propose and implement ideas to increase the share of wins.
  • Provide inputs on new product pricing strategies for customers.
  • Work closely with Customer Care support teams and internal marketing/product teams to help provide first class assistance to the customer base.
  • Create technical guidance material and participate in creative brainstorming for product branding.
  • Get involved in real-life projects to enable efficiency gains and continuous improvement opportunities across our Customer Centre.
  • Get involved in the promotional activities of our Early Careers programmes and the Early Careers community.
