Your mission in Semiconductor Service (VSS)

In response to the rapid industry growth, we have an exciting opportunity with a new role of Product & Process Support Engineer, to join the Semiconductor Service Division (VSS) at Edwards. Edwards is a market leader in the growing Semiconductor sector and forms part of the Vacuum Technique Area of the Atlas Copco Group. 

As the Product & Process Support Engineer you will provide the engineering input and the delivery of world class Service offerings and solutions into the Global Service Technology Centre’s to deliver and stimulate VSS sustainable and profitable growth.

This includes the delivery of product growth initiatives and improvement projects for new and legacy products. You will work closely with VSS Engineering, Service Marketing and Product Companies in order to define, deliver & communicate service capability and processes within the market sectors of the VSS Business.

Your mission Includes: 

In this role you will support the delivery of service offerings to the Service Technology Centres (STCs) which will include the updating & creation of SOPs, parts manuals, test documentation, new tooling and gauging requirements with associated costs, task lists & bill of materials with a good to excellent knowledge of SAP.

Whilst training will be provided, the successful candidate will have the ability to project manage, plan, execute & ensure the SBU SharePoint site is up to date and that all documents are maintained, approved & uploaded in-line with business requirements with full audit control. 

The role will undertake key projects and will support the creation and implementation of all process changes, change control and supporting data to enable the project delivery, tooling, procedures, SBU & training requirements globally for STC technicians or engineers. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Undertakes key projects under VSS Global Manager NPI and Engineering Support supervision.
  • Delivers to the regions the product service capability supporting the warranty avoidance costs.
  • To support the Product Marketing and VSS Engineering team in order to understand & provide a critical design review (Design for Service) and to develop engineering processes and solutions in order to stimulate business growth and to satisfy our customers’ requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of the Service Development and Project Support Plan in order to manage and track all projects and initiatives and to provide data to the VSS Senior Management.
  • To support and ensure all current and legacy SOP’s, documentation, training material & tooling are approved and available via the SBU for the global STC‘s.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers in order to create or modify specifications, engineering drawings covering tooling and complex systems, capability to discuss alternative solutions & to support equipment safety reviews.
  • To ensure that the global master tool list is up to date with accurate costs, delivery lead times & supplier information and to liaise with other tool procurement sites.
  • Support the creation of all new parts manuals, test specs & new Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and where required updating older documents or creating new versions for legacy products ensuring the document approval process is followed prior to release.
  • To work within the VSS Engineering team to ensure best practise & standardisation is communicated Globally & adhered to at all times.

This role is office based and not shop floor based. 

Who you are: 

  • University – technical degree or equivalent within an engineering discipline
  • 1 to 5 years working experiences in a Manufacturing or Mechanical engineering environment.
  • Ability to operate harmoniously as a member of a multi-disciplined team.
  • You are happy to work in an office environment and utilise your knowledge on a global level. 

Functional skills/ ISIT:

  • Solid knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering methods
  • Understanding of STC / NPI process roll-out
  • ERW (Engineering Review Worksheet)
  • PFMEA
  • Kaizen (and problem-solving tools)
  • Six Sigma understanding
  • 8D
  • Lean Manufacturing (appreciation)
  • KPI understanding / Power BI
  • RASCI, tooling design
  • Good / advanced level of O365, Visio, SAP, AUTOCAD / Catia- being able to quickly adjust to new ISIT systems and processes
  • English at an advanced level
