Liam Hebblewhite

Graduate Engineer

Your experience of the graduate programme – where you heard about the opportunity: I found the Emerson graduate programme through Gradcracker and applied online. I was interested in joining Emerson as they are a prominent figure in the process automation industry. The programme has so far allowed me to spend time in different engineering areas of the business and has provided me with valuable skills.

Your development experiences and how you have been able to use these: At the start of the programme I attended a 9-week bootcamp which was an intensive period of learning, but really rewarding. The bootcamp introduced me to the fundamentals associated with the DeltaV Distributed Control System which I have utilized during my work on projects. There were also courses aimed at developing other skills such as effective communication.

The roles and successes you have had since joining: During my time on the graduate program at Emerson, I have been able to assist application engineers and system engineers executing various engineering projects within the business. This has allowed me to develop and learn from experienced engineers within the business, while also being hands on and involved in the system builds.

I have also been able to participate in system testing and lead elements of customer Factory Acceptance Tests with the support of my colleagues. I have also been able to prepare and perform presentations to customers demonstrating some of the services that Emerson offer.

Key achievements you are proud of: I am proud of the projects that I have assisted with so far and the skills that I have developed, which I will carry forward with me into my career as an engineer at Emerson.

Recommendation to others and anything else you wish to add: I have attended many training courses throughout my time at Emerson which I have found beneficial to my role. My colleagues have been really supportive and have answered any of my questions during my time at Emerson.

Going forward I’m hoping to progress to the title of System Engineer and continue to be involved in projects that will allow me to further develop my skills as an engineer.
