"My recruitment process was simple and enjoyable."
Your Name: Alix Quinn
Your Job Title: Graduate Civil Engineer
Your Sector: Highways
I was originally drawn to Jacobs as it was similar to a company I had undertaken an industrial placement with. Jacobs prides itself on its Graduate Development Programme and I enjoyed seeing how the next few years during my early career were set out by individual goals and milestones.
My recruitment process was simple and enjoyable. I applied through Gradcracker and within a few weeks I was informed that my application was successful. I was then invited to a recruitment day in the Manchester offices. The day was enjoyable; it gave me a chance to mingle with other graduates. The assessment process itself was professional and not intimidating in the slightest. The next day I was informed I was successful and would be joining Jacobs the following summer!
I am currently working on drawing production and AutoCAD Design across a few small projects but in the coming weeks I am due to start on the SMA schemes, looking into SVD systems.
The working day is obviously not what I expected in the current climate! However, working from home so far has been great. My team constantly have daily catch up meetings and although we have not met face to face, I already feel like a major part of the Highways team.
Jacobs has impressed me the most with the way it has dealt with the current climate and daily challenges we are all facing. As we are in the most uncertain of times, I feel the support from Jacobs is constant and there has been no slowdown in the progression of my career with the company.
